Dad's Visit to Korea

Many of you know that my dad came out to visit me in Korea prior to my change of command. In spite of his promise not to be in a plane for that long unless there was a baby being born in Korea, we convinced him to make the trek. He and I are both very thankful that he made the trip! Not only did he get to see me at work, visit with my Soldiers and with my boss, but he also got to experience a bit of the Korean culture.

He flew in on Wednesday the 30th of April - of course, he was dressed supporting the Wings so I couldn't miss him!

My change of command was just a couple days later on the 2nd of May. I was surprised to see that he was willing to sport a tie for the event! Regardless, it was great having him there.

That next weekend, we took a trip to Seoul so that I could show him the city, where we used to live, and introduce him to some of our friends. We had beautiful weather and both really enjoyed our weekend in the big city. This photo is from Seoul tower, overlooking the City. This photo is from the Cheonggyecheon river walkway. There were many Korean families walking this Sunday afternoon and one kind woman was willing to take this photo for us (always an interesting experience, asking a Korean to take a photo for you!)Sunday night, we had a great "guys night" where we went out for a burger and a beer, then went to see Ironman! After a trip back down to Waegwan on Monday and some outprocessing on Tuesday, we made the quick 3 hour trip back up to Seoul where we caught a ride to the airport and flew out on the 7th. It worked out very well traveling together and it was actually a reasonably comfortable trip.
