Since I'm not working on Saturdays anymore, Tyler and I have been able do some fun things together with that time. Last Saturday was a gorgeous day here in Waegwan, bright blue sky and temps in the low 70's. We decided to take advantage of it and go for a hike in the "mountains" (large hills) behind our new place. We hiked Hill 303, which is an infamous location from the Korean War. It was part of the northern section of the Pusan perimeter. In fact, a pretty nasty massacre took place there. As we hiked up we could see remains of a trench line.
From the top we had a great view of the valley and much of Waegwan. It wasn't a long hike, but it was nice just to get out and enjoy the day together.

very nice... but who massacred who I wonder...
The North Koreans captured American soldiers (about 30, I think) as POWs on this hill. They stripped them of identification (uniform), tied their hands behind their backs with their boot laces, and held them for two days without food. After those two days they lined them up over a trench and shot them and left them for dead. There were a couple who actually survived to tell the story. Thus, the Hill 303 Massacre.
wooooo nasty...
